Donna Rubin
In 2024, Donna helped launch Hamptons Summer Songbook by the Sea alongside Josh Gladstone at LTV Studios in East Hampton. The series has quickly become a celebrated cultural destination, spotlighting Broadway, cabaret, and musical theater artists in an intimate setting and reinforcing the East End’s growing reputation as a hub for the performing arts. She is thrilled to be joining the production team as an Associate Producer of Mr. Halston at Bay Street Theatre this summer. She currently serves as the Producer of Hamptons Summer Songbook by the Sea and is producing the documentary I Love Cabaret, which explores the history, artistry, and enduring cultural significance of cabaret.
In addition to her producing work, Donna is a seasoned entrepreneur. In 1999, she co-founded bodē NYC, New York City’s first hot yoga studio. Over more than two decades, the business expanded from its original Midtown location to four studios across New York City, as well as locations in Bridgehampton, Baltimore, and Montreal. Originally branded Bikram Yoga NYC and later reimagined as bodē NYC, the studio played a significant role in expanding the visibility and accessibility of hot yoga beyond the city. Through this work, Donna had the privilege of teaching countless Broadway performers, dancers, and artists, fostering a unique intersection between physical discipline and creative expression.
Donna’s roots as a performer deeply inform her producing philosophy. A former professional dancer, she performed with the National Ballet of Canada, originating the principal role of Meg Giry in the original Canadian company of The Phantom of the Opera. She later made her Broadway debut in Carousel at Lincoln Center. Her firsthand experience onstage gives her a rare and empathetic perspective as a producer, grounded in respect for artists and the collaborative process.
As a producer and investor, Donna’s Broadway and theatrical credits include Hair (2009 Tony Award for Best Revival), Love, Loss, and What I Wore, Shida, Through the Night, and Buena Vista Social Club. Her documentary work includes producing the award-winning film An Improbable Dream, which premiered on CBC Canada and explores the formative experience of growing up at Canada’s National Ballet School, as well as serving as Co-Producer on the documentary GIMP.
